Visit http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ to download Thunderbird

Opening Thunderbird

Select Save File, then click OK

Downloads

Double click the .dmg file to start the install process, this may take a moment or two.

Thunderbird Application Folder

Drag and drop the Thunderbird icon on to the Application folder, this process may take a short time to complete.

Launch Thunderbird

Launch Thunderbird - the screen shot example is using Spotlight.

Internet Application Warning

If prompted or warned about launching Thunderbird, click Open.

Thunderbird - Create New Account

Thunderbird will now let you set up your mail account, do so by click on Create a new account (found in the middle of the application)

Thunderbird - Account Information

You will see a screen asking for your account information.

1. In the Your name: field, enter in your first and last name - this is what people will see when the receive an email from you
2. In the Email address: field, enter in your email address, this can be found on your Welcome Letter
3. In the Password: field, enter in your email address as found on your Welcome Letter
4. Click on Continue (the displayed window will expand and show additional information)

Thunderbird - Mail Server Settings

After you click on Continue, the screen will expand and ask for mail server information. The next step is setting up the mail client with the incoming and outgoing mail servers.

NOTE: The alert that Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account is a warning that can be safely ignored.

In the Username: field, enter your complete email address.

In the row that starts with Incoming:

1. In the first text field, enter: zimbra.real-time.com
2. In the next dropbox, select POP
3. In the next text field, enter: 995
4. In the next dropbox, select: SSL/TLS

Moving on to the next row starting with Outgoing:

1. In the first text field, enter: zimbra.real-time.com
2. The next field is filled in for you with SMTP
3. In the next text field, enter: 465
4. In the next dropbox, select: SSL/TLS

Click on Create Account button.

Thunderbird Mail Client

This will take you back to the main interface of the mail client. The setup of Thunderbird is now complete.
